Is The Hollows Resort Pet-Friendly?

Is The Hollows Resort Pet-Friendly?

Short answer: some of our Hollows properties are, and some are not. Pet policy is set by each owner, not by the community, so the question is really about the individual house rather than the resort.

Here is what actually matters when you are booking.

How to find the pet-friendly houses

Use the pet-friendly filter on our property search, or just tell us you are bringing a dog when you enquire. We would rather show you four suitable houses than twenty you cannot book.

If you have already found a property you like and the listing does not mention pets, ask. Some owners will consider a well-behaved dog case by case, particularly for longer stays outside peak season.

What the pet fee covers

Nearly every pet-friendly property carries a per-stay pet fee. It is not a deposit and it is not a penalty — it pays for the extra cleaning a pet stay genuinely requires, particularly on soft furnishings.

The fee shows up in your quote before you pay. If you are comparing a pet-friendly booking against boarding your dog at home, factor it in; often it still comes out ahead, and the dog has a better week.

The community rules

Two things to know about The Hollows itself, independent of which house you book:

Amenity areas are not pet areas. The Beach Club, the pool decks, and the indoor amenity spaces are off limits to dogs. This is standard for resort communities and it is enforced.

The trails are excellent. This is the part people do not expect. The Hollows has miles of trail through 1,400 acres of Hill Country, and walking a dog there in the morning before the heat arrives is genuinely one of the better things about staying here. Bring waste bags.

Practical advice for a Texas summer

If you are visiting between June and September, plan the dog’s day around the heat rather than your own schedule:

  • Walk early or late. Limestone and asphalt hold heat well past sunset. Test the ground with your hand — if you cannot hold it there for five seconds, it is too hot for paws.
  • Water everywhere. Bring more than you think. Most of our pet-friendly houses have bowls, but carry water on the trails.
  • Shade is not optional. Never leave a dog in a car here, even briefly, even with the windows down.
  • Watch the lake edge. Lake Travis has steep drop-offs and rocky banks in places. Most dogs are fine; older or less confident swimmers should be watched.

What to bring

Beds and bowls are hit and miss across properties — ask before assuming. Bring your dog’s own bedding regardless; a familiar smell settles a dog into an unfamiliar house faster than anything else.

Also worth packing: a towel for muddy paws, any medication, and vaccination records if you might use a local groomer or daycare.

Nearby, if you need it

Jonestown and Lago Vista have veterinary practices, and there are more options toward Cedar Park. If your dog is on medication or has a condition, it is worth noting the nearest emergency practice before you travel rather than searching for it at 11pm.

The honest summary

The Hollows works well as a dog trip. You get a private house rather than a hotel room, trails on the doorstep, and space for a dog to actually be a dog. The constraints are that not every house allows pets, the amenity areas do not, and the summer heat is real.

Tell us your dates and that you are bringing a dog, and we will do the filtering for you.
